The most compelling part of this movie was the Navaho spiritual theme: skinwalkers and the ghost sickness they can cause. In fact, the skinwalker was terrifying (cudos to the actor), and the psychological aspect was so frightening that it completely overwhelmed the unlikely romance between the LA policeman and the beautiful young Navaho tracker. I can't see her messing with somebody in that bad shape. Infected with ghost sickness, he could have been quite dangerous to her and others in the tracking party. It struck me that someone took a really good script and messed with it, trying to make it conform to what somebody thinks viewers want: a romance. The skinwalker issue should have been taken care of by the tribal policemen, working with elders, and that could have been tense and scarey. Unfortunately, the tribal policemen (their sergeant was played by Robert Beltran) got shunted to the background. Still the movie is worth a look for the fascinating core and Beltran, glowing gently in the background. *Viewer Reviews* I FOR ONE THOUGHT THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE.
