Viewer Reviews John Wayne gives a strong, honest performance as the skipper of the Thunderfish. Wayne is tasked with two missions. One is to win back his wife (Patricia Neal). The second is to fix the dud torpedoes plaguing the U.S. Pacific Fleet and crippling the Navy's efforts against the Imperial Japanese Navy. The film plays well and is a classic of WW2 submarine flicks.
