They say you know you've made it when you get to Carnegie Hall. Well, Andy Kaufman made it. But calling this a typical routine at the famous performance center would be rather misleading. With a hodgepodge of bizarre guests, Kaufman takes center stage donning the role of MC-singer-dancer-wrestler extraordinaire and proudly struts his stuff. Watch as he brings back the dead, uses spinach to improve his wrestling, bangs on the bongos, all while his loving Grandma Robin watches from center stage. All of his characters are here for the big show: the Foreign Guy, Elvis, Andy as the transgender wrestling champion. The biggest standout of the evening is the duet of Andy as "Andy" imitating Tony Clifton and then breaking into a duet with the infamous lounge lizard. You got that?
How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Well, yes, there's practice, and Kaufman, with years of experience under his belt, appears to be in his element. How he was able to pull this off in Carnegie Hall is truly a feat unto itself. --Rob Bracco
Viewer Reviews I bought this video after going to the May 16th Dead or Alive Kaufman Special at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, and I needed to see more of this genius. (The show, by the way, was pretty amazing! All night I kept thinking maybe Andy is still alive.) This video was very entertaining, and made me miss Andy Kaufman's talent even more. I was thrilled to see Andy upto his antics, but a bit disappointed with Clifton's short skit. Anyhow, it's worth the money to own this one b/c it gives you a childish nostalgic feeling.
