I've never given any thought to transgendered people. I'm kind of your boring mainstream female. I saw this movie when it first came out, and what impressed me about it was that at first, you find yourself questioning the durability of a May-December romance, and then, when more truths surface, you realize there are bigger things for the protagonist to overcome. I enjoyed the ride all the way. This is a movie that gently makes you shift paradigms and overlook things that would normally be a major barrier for you. <br /> <br />Even the somewhat absurd denouement was just what the doctor ordered. I was still thrown by the plot and became accepting, as was the protagonist, of the lifestyle of her love interest; at this point, I really needed a neat ending. *Viewer Reviews* It's certainly a topic that leaves a lot of people rubbing their heads trying to figure it out -- what it means about the sexuality of the people involved. If a heterosexual woman is attracted to a cross-dressing man, is that still heterosexual? This movie makes you question a lot of traditional categories that we put people in. The film reminds us that it's not that tidy. The plot involves a successful investment banker (American living in London) whose wife throws him out when she comes home unexpectedly and finds all sorts of women's clothing and makeup. It's his, only he doesn't tell her because she doesn't want to talk to him at all. His money is tied up in the divorce, so he rents a room with a recently divorced woman who is attracted to him -- and he to her. The other plot involves his work as an investment banker, working for a real jerk and trying to put together a deal with a Japanese company. I know some people might shy away from the subject matter, but it's handled very well and raises some questions that are worth thinking about. I personally recommend the movie. Back To Top
